How to save money at the Dentist

Many people avoid the dentist because of the cost so let us help you with a few tips on how to save money

1. Commit to preventative care
The cheapest way to fix problems is to prevent them from happening. Brushing, flossing and eating a healthy diet at home doesn’t cost a lot of money and can save you lots of money down the track.

2. Go for regular checkups
Emergency or toothache treatment is often the costliest and painful dental treatment and that’s because by the time a tooth develops a severe ache there is usually a large or complicated problem.

3. Ask your dentist and invest in a comprehensive exam
This is because at a comprehensive exam the dentist can provide you with a plan in order of priority. Always talk to your dentist about your concerns including any financial ones you may have. Your dentist can then provide different options that will suit your needs as well as a plan that lets you know what should be prioritized first.

4. Be wary of private health insurance
Health insurance can be costly and there is an increasing number of ‘junk policies’ on the market. Don’t sign up for the sake of signing up or thinking it will cover all of your treatment.

Find out what treatment you need and read the fine print as often covers have restrictions and waiting periods and the amount of rebate is not on par with what you pay for the policy.

Remember, insurance companies are there to make money.
