What is Good Oral Hygiene?

Good oral hygiene is essential if you’d like a healthy mouth and teeth that will hopefully last for life. Practising good oral hygiene will mean your teeth remain free from excess plaque, tartar and food debris that could otherwise cause cavities. Your gums will look a nice healthy pink and should not bleed when you brush or floss and you will also benefit from a fresher breath.

What Do I Need to Do to Have Good Oral Hygiene?

Maintaining good oral hygiene is quite easy to do and focuses on daily preventative care which includes proper brushing and flossing techniques. Make sure you brush at least twice a day, preferably first thing in the morning and last thing at night and that you floss once a day. It is best to floss last thing at night so you go to bed with a nice clean mouth.

What Are the Benefits of Regular Brushing and Flossing?

This simple routine will help prevent problems from developing and when combined with regular check-ups and professional cleanings is a very easy way to maintain good oral health. Maintaining good oral hygiene also helps to keep your dental bills low.

Why Do I Need to Have My Teeth Professionally Cleaned?

It is easy to miss out certain areas of your mouth when you brush or floss and this enables plaque to harden into tartar, a substance that produces toxins that inflame and infect your gums. Regular professional cleaning removes hardened tartar before it can damage your gums and it is a great way to keep breath super fresh. Every professional cleaning includes polishing your teeth which is a nice way to help remove some surface stains. During this appointment, we can also assess the way you brush and floss your teeth and our hygiene team will work with you to help improve your technique. Even a few simple changes can help make a big difference to your oral hygiene.
