Five Ways to Win at Life

Lots of people set goals, but the secret of actually sticking to and achieving these goals is in being realistic. Listed below are five tips to help you win at life this year.

  1. Don’t try to change too many behaviours at once. Instead, concentrate on changing a single behaviour until it has become a regular habit.
  2. Keep yourself on track by using the SMART acronym which stands for Sustainable, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-sensitive. By sticking to this acronym, you can more easily track your progress.
  3. It is vital to be realistic, but this doesn’t stop you from aiming big. Instead, just set a realistic timeframe and perhaps breakdown your goal into smaller segments.
  4. Get friends and family involved because this will help to keep you accountable and motivated. It’s also a good idea to partner up with other people who are trying to change bad habits or who have similar goals.
  5. Give yourself some flexibility as sometimes goals need to be adapted to suit changes to your circumstances. For example, perhaps you decided to go to the gym five times a week but find you hate it. Being flexible means finding something else that you can do, perhaps by taking up swimming or going for regular walks in the park.
